Rabies-Monoclonal Antibody - A Perspective
نویسندگان
چکیده
Rabies is an acute viral zoonotic disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS) of all warm-blooded animals, including mammals. Research studies and experience from across world have demonstrated appropriate administration a combination (a) local wound treatment, (b) anti-rabies vaccination (c) passive immunization proved to be quite effective in preventing occurrence rabies. As far as concerned, polyclonal plasma-derived rabies immunoglobulins (RIG) pose number limitations with scarce supply, high cost, etc. amongst many others. On contrary Monoclonal Antibodies (R-mAb) are much cheaper, permit longer-term storage, hence could offer more standardized, accessible, affordable equally efficacious safer alternative RIG. Accordingly, this article has tried throw light on transition RIG monoclonal antibody-based Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) which been recommended by WHO strongly. The advantages, future scope R-mAb discussed at length give comprehensive idea about novel invention field medicine.

Monoclonal antibody studies on rabies-related viruses.
Rabies and rabies-related viruses are divided into four serotypes, although it has been suggested that the inclusion of European bat lyssaviruses results in six genotypes. Sixty-four rabies-related viruses were tested against a panel of 36 anti-nucleocapsid monoclonal antibodies prepared from the immunization of Balb/c mice with five prototypic rabies-related viruses. Reaction patterns obtained...

Background: Rabies virus is a neurotropic virus that causes fatal, but, a preventable disease in mammals. Administration of rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) is essential for the post-exposure of the prophylaxis to prevent the disease. However, replacement of polyclonal RIGs with alternative monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) that are capable of neutralizing rabies virus has been recommend...
متن کاملComparison of an anti-rabies human monoclonal antibody combination with human polyclonal anti-rabies immune globulin.
The World Health Organization estimates human mortality from endemic canine rabies to be 55,000 deaths/year. Limited supply hampers the accessibility of appropriate lifesaving treatment, particularly in areas where rabies is endemic. Anti-rabies antibodies are key to protection against lethal rabies. Currently, only human and equine polyclonal anti-rabies immune globulin (HRIG and ERIG) is avai...
متن کاملA Capture ELISA for the Diagnosis of Visceral Leishmaniasis Using a Monoclonal Antibody against a Leishmanial
capture ELISA system was developed for diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) using a monoclonal antibody raised against an antigen previously detected in the urine of VL patients. Urine samples from confirmed VL cases from Yemen, Nepal, Spain, Sudan and Brazil were tested in the capture ELISA in comparison with urine samples from endemic and non-endemic areas along with urine samples from pa...
